The Portland Trailblazers tried to steal 25-year old center Roy Hibbert as a free agent, but the Pacers ante’d up to keep him. Hibbert played in 65 games (all starts) for the Pacers last year and he averaged 29.8 minutes, 12.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He has now played in 297 games (256 starts) in his first four years in the NBA and he is averaging 24.3 minutes, 11.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 blocked shots per game. Hibbert keeps getting better every season. 25-year old Ian Mahinmi will be Hibbert’s caddy in 2012-13. Mahinmi played in 61 games (12 starts) for the Mavericks last year and he averaged 18.7 minutes, 5.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. He played in 135 games in his three years at Duke and he averaged 15.8 minutes, 4.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Plumlee projects as a backup and little more in the future.

29-year old small forward Danny Granger’s overall numbers didn’t look that bad in 2011-12, but he didn’t play as well as he can. The Pacers need him to step up in 2012-13. The Indiana Pacers are expecting Paul George to take another positive step in 2012-13

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Positional Previews by alleyoop on Tuesday 4 September 2012 at 7:31 pm

22-year old Paul George played well last year, especially on the defensive end due to his size. George played in 66 games (all starts) for the Pacers last year and he averaged 29.7 minutes, 12.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game. He has now played in 127 games (85 starts) in his first two years with the Pacers and he is averaging 25.4 minutes, 10.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Stephenson has now played in 54 games (1 start) in his first two years with the Pacers and he is averaging 10.3 minutes, 2.6 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. The Pacers hope that Stephenson starts shooting better at some point in the near future as he is only hitting 36.6% from the floor so far in his NBA career. He is also a pathetic 4 of 35 (11.4%) from three point range so far in his career. The Pacers dealt for 23-year old Orlando Johnson on draft night (he as a 2nd round pick of the Kings. Johnson played in 124 games in his four years at UC Santa-Barbara in which he averaged 31.3 minutes, 17.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

He played in 12 games (0 starts) for the Pacers last year and he averaged 9.6 minutes, 3.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game on only 33.3% shooting from the floor. He can also give Collison a break at the point when he needs one.
