The Indiana Pacers have really played well this year. They finish the first half of the 2011-12 season with a 21-12 record, which has them in second place in the Central Division, 5 games behind the Bulls. The Pacers are also #3 in the Eastern Conference as it stands right now, behind only the Bulls and Heat. Here is a look at the players who made the biggest impact for the Pacers in the first half of the season in my opinion:
Team MVP: Roy Hibbert: 25-year old center Roy Hibbert has really stepped up his game this year. Hibbert played in 33 games (all starts) in the first half of the 2011-12 season and he averaged 30.2 minutes, 13.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.7 blocked shots per game. He also shot 51.2% from the floor in the first half as he is mostly taking only good shots. The Pacers need Hibbert to continue playing well at both ends of the court in the second half of the 2011-12 season.
Biggest Surprise: Paul George: 21-year old Paul George has moved into the starting lineup at shooting guard this year and he has been outstanding so far in 2011-12. George has played in 33 games (all starts) so far this year and he is averaging 31.0 minutes, 12.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game. George is shooting a very solid 40.1% from three point range so far this year. George has really given the Pacers an edge at shooting guard due to his size at 6′10″.
Biggest Disappointment: Danny Granger: 28-year old small forward Danny Granger has really shot the ball horribly so far this year. Granger is only shooting 38.2% from the floor so far this year and he has been a ball hog at times. Granger has played in 31 games (all starts) for the Pacers so far this year and he is averaging 33.7 minutes, 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game. The Pacers need Granger to start shooting better if they are going to reach their peak as a team offensively.
