The Indiana Pacers are 24-30 heading into the All-Star Break which has them in 2nd place in the Central Division, 14 games behind the Bulls. The Pacers are currently in the #8 spot in the Eastern Conference right now, 16 games behind the Celtics & Heat. More importantly, they are 2 games behind the Sixers and 4 games behind the Knicks. Right behind them are the Bobcats (1 game) and the Bucks (3.5 games) so the Pacers can’t afford to slip up the rest of the way if they want to make the playoffs.
Biggest Surprise: 23-year old Josh McRoberts has taken over as the starting power forward for the Pacers and he is doing a decent job. McRoberts has played in 44 games (42 starts) for the Pacers so far this year and he is averaging 22.7 minutes, 7.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He is shooting 53% from the floor and 38.2% from three point range which is pretty solid. The only blemish on his game so far this year is that he is only shooting 68% from the free throw line.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: 34-year old small forward James Posey just can’t shoot anymore and that has been his main skill in his NBA career. He is only shooting 34.8% from the floor and 32.6% from three point range and that’s downright awful. Posey has played in 42 games (0 starts) for the Pacers so far this year and he is averaging 17.9 minutes, 5.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. The Pacers could be aided by Posey the rest of the season if he can find his shooting stroke. If he doesn’t find his stroke soon, the Pacers should nail his butt to the bench.
