The Indiana Pacers need more offense from the point guards

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Need to Step Up by alleyoop on Thursday 25 November 2010 at 9:40 pm

23-year old point guard Darren Collison has been so-so this season for the Pacers. He has played in 10 games (all starts) for the Pacers so far this year and he is averaging 29.0 minutes, 14.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Collison is shooting well this year hitting 44.9% from the floor, 47.1% from three point range and 90.6% from the free throw line. The Pacers probably would be happy with Collison if he started passing a tad more. 27-year old T.J. Ford is somewhat out of the Dog House so far this year. He has played in 13 games (3 starts) for the Pacers this year and he is averaging 22.4 minutes, 6.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Don’t look for Ford to get much P.T. unless Collison gets injured but it would be nice if he can give them 15-20 decent minutes per night.

The Indiana Pacers are taking it slow with Paul George

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Rookie Reports by alleyoop on Tuesday 16 November 2010 at 5:28 pm

20-year old SG/SF Paul George is likely going to be brought along slowly by the Pacers who have a lot of players ahead of him on the depth chart. George played in 6 games (0 starts) for the Pacers so far this year and is averaging 17.7 minutes, 6.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. George is only shooting 38.2% from the floor and he likely won’t see an increase in P.T. unless he starts shooting better.

The Indiana Pacers are getting solid production from the power forwards

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Steppin Up by alleyoop on Friday 12 November 2010 at 9:53 pm

The Pacers have a time share going on at power forward and they are getting solid production out of the spot. 23-year old Josh McRoberts has played in 6 games (all starts) for the Pacers so far this year and he is averaging 22.3 minutes, 6.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocked shot per game. 25-year old Tyler Hansbrough is also stepping up for the Pacers this year. He has played in 5 games (0 starts) for the Pacers so far this season and he is averaging 20.2 minutes, 10.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. The Pacers are expecting big things out of Hansbrough who was their first round pick last year.

Danny Granger only shot 6 of 17 from the floor but he somehow still finished up with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Roy Hibbert was his usual tough self inside with 14 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocked shots. Paul George (10 points) and Mike Dunleavy (11 points) also pitched in for the Pacers last night. The Pacers are now 2-3 on the year.

Philadelphia 76ers 101, Indiana Pacers 75

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Game Recaps, General by alleyoop on Thursday 4 November 2010 at 9:39 am

The Pacers only shot 31.5% from the floor as they looked really flat last night which helps explain the numbers on the scoreboard. Darren Collison only shot 4 of 16 from the floor but he still led the way for the Pacers last night with 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Josh McRoberts filled up the stat sheet with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and 1 blocked shot in only 20 minutes on the court. Roy Hibbert pitched in with 9 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocked shots on 4 of 12 shooting from the floor. The Pacers are now 2-2 on the year.

Roy Hibbert is off to an amazing start for the Indiana Pacers

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 2 November 2010 at 3:23 pm

24-year old center Roy Hibbert has been outstanding for the Pacers this year as he is taking his game to a new level. Hibbert has started 3 games for the Pacers so far this year and he is averaging 34.7 minutes, 18.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.7 blocked shots per game. Hibbert has kept out of foul trouble so far this year and he has been taking a lot of pressure off of Danny Granger offensively for the Pacers. The Pacers will be a surprise team in the NBA if Hibbert keeps playing like he is right now because he’s a legit center at both ends of the basketball court.
