The Indiana Pacers need to start getting more minutes for Roy Hibbert

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Steppin Up by alleyoop on Monday 28 December 2009 at 9:26 pm

For some reason the Pacers have been cutting Roy Hibbert’s minutes. He needs to be playing because of his rebounding and defense which have both been solid this season. Hibbert has played in 29 games (26 starts) this season for the Pacers and he is averaging 22.6 minutes, 9.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.7 blocked shots per game. The Pacers aren’t going anywhere this season so it makes no sense not to get minutes to the younger players giving them the time needed to develop.

Miami Heat 114, Indiana Pacers 80

The Pacers forgot they had a game last night as they were losing 98-60 after the first three quarters before the Heat called off the dogs. The Pacers only shot 30.7% from the floor and they were outrebounded 55-40 last night which helps explain the scoreboard. Troy Murphy led the way for the Pacers last night with 16 points and 2 rebounds in 23 minutes on the court. T.J. Ford pitched in with 10 points and 4 assists in only 19 minutes on the court. Tyler Hansbrough had a solid game off the bench with 10 points and 10 rebounds in only 26 minutes despite shooting 0 for 5 from the floor. The Pacers are now 9-20 on the year.

Atlanta Hawks 110, Indiana Pacers 98

The Pacers outrebounded the Hawks 47-37 last night but it did not trump the fact that the Hawks shot 50.6% from the floor. Troy Murphy led the way for the Pacers last night with 19 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocked shots. Luther Head had his best game in a while with 19 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist in only 25 minutes off the bench. Tyler Hansbrough pitched in with 19 points and 11 rebounds last night despite shooting only 7 of 20 from the floor. The Pacers are now 9-19 on the year.

The Pacers were leading 57-42 at the half before getting dominated in the second half by the Celtics. Troy Murphy led the way for the Pacers last night with 24 points, 18 rebounds and 2 assists. Earl Watson had another solid night for the Pacers in the starting line-up with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Tyler Hansbrough is showing potential for the Indiana Pacers, but………..

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Need to Step Up, Rookie Reports by alleyoop on Tuesday 22 December 2009 at 9:36 am

Tyler Hansbrough is not shooting too well (38% from the floor) and that should limit his playing time until he gets a little better. He has played in 22 games (0 starts) for the Pacers this season and he is averaging 18.0 minutes, 9.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. Hansbrough is showing potential for the Pacers but the Pacers should continue to take it slow with him for the time being.

Troy Murphy of the Indiana Pacers continues to play well

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 22 December 2009 at 9:32 am

Troy Murphy continues to be one of the most underrated players in the NBA. He has played in 20 games (18 starts) for the Pacers this season and he is averaging 31.8 minutes, 13.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Although I like rookie Tyler Hansbrough he should not be taking minutes away from Murphy who is one of the best players on the team right now. If they feel the need to play Hansbrough over Murphy then they should trade him and throw the towel in on this season.

Indiana Pacers 81, Milwaukee Bucks 84

Blogged under Big Pacers News, Bloglockers, Game Recaps, General by Andrew on Tuesday 22 December 2009 at 7:53 am

The Indiana Pacers (9-17) were ice cold from the field and it cost them the game last night against the Milwaukee Bucks (12-14).  The Pacers did some things well, like winning the rebounding battle 56-44 and getting 9 steals, but they hit only 36% of their shots and turned it over 18 times.  Roy Hibbert had a strong game for the Pacers, getting 16 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block.  Tyler Hansbrough made a big impact off the bench for 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks in just 21 minutes.  The Pacers couldn’t stop the Bucks’ Andrew Bogut though, who had a career-high 31 points and 18 rebounds.  They also let Bucks’ rookie Brandon Jennings hit a jumper with 28 seconds to put the Bucks up 5 points.  The Pacers played hard, but they shot terribly and couldn’t come through with stops down the stretch.

The Pacers just couldn’t keep up with the Grizzlies earlier tonight. Mike Dunleavy led the way for the Pacers tonight with 16 points, 1 rebound and 2 assists. T.J.
