The Indianapolis Colts acquire Trent Richardson from the Browns

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Trades by joelapinski on Thursday 19 September 2013 at 4:41 am

The Colts have acquired 22-year old RB Trent Richardson for their first round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.  Richardson played in 2 games for the Browns this year in which he carried the ball 31 times for 105 yards (3.4 ypc) and he caught 7 passes for 51 yards (7.3 avg).  Richardson has now played in 17 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has carried the ball 298 times for 1,055 yards (3.5 ypc) with 11 TD runs.  He has also caught 58 passes for 418 yards (7.2 avg) with 1 TD grab so far in his NFL career.  Richardson will bump Ahmad Bradshaw to the bench when he’s comfortable with the plays.  He could start against the 49ers this weekend, if he picks up the offense quickly.  This was an outstanding move for the Colts, as Richardson will help them be a real threat to win the Super Bowl this year.

The Indianapolis Colts deal OLB/DE Caesar Rayford to the Cowboys

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Trades by joelapinski on Tuesday 3 September 2013 at 9:01 pm

The Colts have dealt 27-year old rookie OLB/DE Caesar Rayford to the Dallas Cowboys for a conditional late round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.  Rayford was a beast in the preseason as he had 5 sacks for the Colts.  I always like it when a team deals a guy they were going to cut for a draft pick.  This was a good move for the Colts.

The Indianapolis Colts acquire OLB Cam Johnson from the 49ers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Trades by joelapinski on Tuesday 3 September 2013 at 2:03 am

The Indianapolis Colts have acquired 23-year old OLB Cam Johnson from the 49ers for a conditional 7th round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.  Johnson played in 2 games as a rookie for the 49ers, but he didn’t have any tackles.  Johnson was a monster in the 49ers’ last preseason game and that’s what likely caught the Colts’ eyes.  I like this pickup for the Colts as they didn’t give up much to take a flier on Johnson.

The Indianapolis Colts acquire WR/KR David Reed from the Ravens

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Trades by joelapinski on Wednesday 21 August 2013 at 8:46 pm

The Indianapolis Colts have acquired 26-year old WR/KR David Reed from the Baltimore Ravens for 26-year old RB Delone Carter.  Reed played in 5 games for the Ravens last year and he caught 5 passes for 66 yards (13.2 avg).  He also returned 18 kickoffs for 534 yards (29.7 avg) and he had 4 tackles last year for the Ravens.  Reed has now played in 29 games in his first three years in the NFL and he has caught 5 passes for 66 yards (13.2 avg) and he has carried the ball 2 times for 31 yards (15.5 ypc).  Reed has also returned 39 kickoffs for 1,150 yards (29.5 avg) with 1 TD return and he has 19 tackles and 2 forced fumbles so far in his career.  Carter played in 10 games for the Colts last year and he carried the ball 32 times for 122 yards (3.8 ypc) with 3 TD runs.  He also caught 1 pass for 13 yards last year.  Carter played in 26 games in his two years with the Colts in which he carried the ball 133 times for 499 yards (3.8 ypc) with 5 TD runs and he also caught 6 passes for 31 yards (5.2 avg).  This trade makes perfect sense for the Colts as they have good depth at RB and they have had issues with kickoff returns the last couple of years.

The Indianapolis Colts deal center A.Q. Shipley to the Ravens

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Trades by joelapinski on Thursday 9 May 2013 at 6:17 pm

The Colts have dealt 26-year old center A.Q. Shipley to the Ravens for a conditional draft pick in 2014.  Shipley played in 14 games (5 starts) for the Colts in 2012, which was his first taste of the NFL.  The Colts drafted Khaled Holmes in the 4th round of last month’s NFL Draft, which is what made Shipley expendable.  The Colts shouldn’t miss Shipley too much moving forward.

The Indianapolis Colts acquire ILB Kelvin Sheppard from the Bills

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Trades by joelapinski on Monday 29 April 2013 at 6:19 pm

The Colts have acquired 25-year old inside linebacker Kelvin Sheppard from the Buffalo Bills for 24-year old OLB Jerry Hughes.  Sheppard played in all 16 games for the Bills last year and he had 80 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 pass defensed.  He has now played in 32 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has 150 tackles, 2 sacks, 4 tackles for a loss, 1 fumble recovery and 2 passes defensed.  Hughes was a disappointment in his time with the Colts.  He played in 16 games for the Colts last year and he had 41 tackles, 4 sacks, 3 tackles for a loss and 1 pass defensed.  Hughes played in 40 games in his three years with the Colts and he had 62 tackles, 5 sacks, 4 tackles for a loss and 1 pass defensed.  This was a good deal for the Bills as Sheppard gives them another solid inside linebacker for 2013 and down the road.

The Indianapolis Colts acquire fullback Stanley Havili from the Eagles

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Trades by joelapinski on Thursday 28 March 2013 at 9:31 pm

The Colts have acquired 25-year old fullback Stanley Havili from the Philadelphia Eagles for 25-year old DE Clifton Geathers.  Havili played in 15 games as a rookie for the Colts last year in which he carried the ball 6 times for 22 yards (3.7 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also caught 7 passes for 43 yards (6.1 avg).  He also returned 2 kickoffs for 18 yards (9.0 avg) and he had 7 tackles.  Geathers played in 8 games for the Colts last year and he had 5 tackles and 1 sack.  Havili should help the Colts both offensively and on special teams in 2013, so I like this deal for them.

The Indianapolis Colts acquire CB Vontae Davis from the Dolphins

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Trades by admin on Sunday 26 August 2012 at 10:41 pm

The Colts have acquired 24-year old CB Vontae Davis from the Miami Dolphins for a 2nd round pick in 2013 and a conditional late round pick in 2013.  Davis played in 12 games for the Dolphins last year and he had 43 tackles, 1 sack, 9 passes defensed, 4 interceptions and 1 tackle for a loss.  He has now played in 44 games in his first three years in the NFL and he has 150 tackles, 9 interceptions (one returned for a TD), 32 passes defensed, 4 tackles for a loss, 1 sack and 2 forced fumbles.  Davis didn’t come cheap, but this was an outstanding deal for the Colts as Davis will team up with Jerraud Powers at CB in 2012, giving them a nice starting pair.

The Indianapolis Colts acquire CB Josh Gordy from the Rams

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Trades by admin on Wednesday 22 August 2012 at 2:22 pm

The Indianapolis Colts have acquired 25-year old CB Josh Gordy from the Rams for a undisclosed draft pick.  Gordy played in 14 games for the Rams last year and he had 43 tackles, 3 interceptions, 5 passes defensed and 1 tackle for a loss.  He has now played in 16 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has 44 tackles, 3 interceptions, 5 passes defensed and 1 tackle for a loss.  The Colts needed help at cornerback, so I like this move for them.

The Indianapolis Colts acquire LBs Moise Fokou and Greg Lloyd from the Eagles

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Trades by admin on Friday 3 August 2012 at 3:50 pm

The Indianapolis Colts have acquired 26-year old LB Moise Fokou and 23-year old Greg Lloyd from the Eagles for 25-year old CB Kevin Thomas and a 7th round pick in 2013.  Fokou played in 11 games for the Eagles last year and he had 22 tackles, 2 tackles and 2 passes defensed.  He has now played in 43 games in his first three years in the NFL and he has 112 tackles, 1 sack, 4 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries and 4 passes defensed.  Greg Lloyd was a 7th round pick of the Eagles in 2011, but he didn’t play in any games last year.  Kevin Thomas played in 9 games as a rookie for the Colts last year and he had 33 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 1 tackle for a loss.  This was a good deal for the Colts because they needed more depth at LB.

UPDATE:  (9/2/2012) – The Colts have waived Greg Lloyd.
