27-year old QB Andrew Luck is likely going to miss the next game for the Indianapolis Colts (against the Steelers on Thanksgiving), as he is in concussion protocol.  Luck has played in 10 games (all starts) for the Colts so far this year and he has completed 236 of 375 passes (62.9%) for 2,827 yards with 19 TD passes and 8 INTs (93.9 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 51 times for 246 yards (4.8 ypc) with 1 TD run so far this year.  If Luck isn’t cleared in time to play Thursday, the Colts are in trouble because they will have to start 29-year old Scott Tolzien at QB.  He hasn’t started a game since 2013 for the Green Bay Packers.  Tolzien has played in 6 games (2 starts) in his first five years in the NFL and he has completed 56 of 91 passes (61.5%) for 721 yards with 1 TD pass and 5 INTs (67.1 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 8 times for 52 yards (6.5 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He is 0-1-1 as a starting QB so far in his NFL career.

The Indianapolis Colts could be without Dwayne Allen for a little while

The Indianapolis Colts could be without 26-year old Dwayne Allen for a little while due to a sprained ankle.  Allen has played in 6 games (all starts) for the Colts so far this year and he has caught 18 passes for 192 yards (10.7 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  He has caught 18 of the 27 passes (66.7%) thrown in his direction so far this year.  He has now played in 49 games (48 starts) in his first five years in the NFL (all with the Colts) and he has caught 109 passes for 1,237 yards (11.3 avg) with 15 TD grabs.  26-year old Jack Doyle will likely replace Allen.  He has played in 6 games (5 starts) for the Colts so far this year and he has caught 20 passes for 204 yards (10.2 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  Doyle has caught 20 of 23 passes (87%) thrown in his direction so far this year.  Doyle has now played in 53 games (12 starts) in his first four years with the Colts and he has caught 55 passes for 413 yards (7.5 avg) with 6 TD grabs.  24-year old Erik Swoope will also be asked to step up for the Colts while Allen is out of action.  Swoope has played in 6 games (1 start) for the Colts so far this year and he has caught 2 passes for 42 yards (21.0 avg).  He has also played in 7 games (1 start) in which he has caught 2 passes for 42 yards (21.0 avg).  The Colts hope that Allen won’t be out too long.

The Indianapolis Colts lose starting LG Jack Mewhort

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports,Needs to Pick It Up by joelapinski on Thursday 1 September 2016 at 3:36 am

The Indianapolis Colts will be without 24-year old starting left guard Jack Mewhort for the next 2-4 weeks due to a knee injury.  Mewhort played in 16 games (all starts) for the Colts last year.  He has now played in 30 games (all starts) for the Colts in his first two years in the NFL.  If Mewhort has to miss the start of the 2016 season, look for either 23-year old rookie Joe Haeg or 25-year old Jonotthan Harrison to start at LG until he returns to action.  Haeg was a 5th round pick (#155 overall) out of North Dakota State in the 2016 NFL Draft.  Harrison played in 16 games (9 starts) for the Colts last year.  He has now played in 31 games (19 starts) in his first two years in the NFL.  The Colts can’t afford to be without Jack Mewhort too long, as he is one of the best offensive linemen on the team.

The Indianapolis Colts won’t have Ahmad Bradshaw this weekend

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports,Needs to Pick It Up by joelapinski on Friday 27 September 2013 at 7:15 pm

The Colts will be without 27-year old RB Ahmad Bradshaw for this weekend’s game against the Jaguars due to a neck injury.  Bradshaw has played in all three games for the Colts so far this year and he has carried the ball 41 times for 186 yards (4.5 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He has also caught 7 passes for 42 yards (6.0 avg) so far this year.  It will be up to 22-year old RB Trent Richardson to carry the load in the running game this weekend for the Colts.  He carried the ball 13 times for 35 yards (2.7 ypc) with 1 TD run in his Colts’ debut last weekend against the 49ers.  This is the reason why the Colts dealt for Richardson, so they need him to step up this Sunday.

The Indianapolis Colts lose Dwayne Allen for the rest of the 2013 season

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports,Needs to Pick It Up by joelapinski on Wednesday 18 September 2013 at 6:12 pm

The Colts have lost 23-year old TE Dwayne Allen for the rest of the 2013 season due to hip surgery.  Allen played in 1 game for the Colts this year and he caught 1 pass for 20 yards and it went for a TD.  Allen has played in 17 games in his first two years with the Colts and he has caught 46 passes for 541 yards (11.8 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  24-year old Coby Fleener will need to step up now that he’s the main man at TE for the Colts in 2013.  Fleener has played in 2 games for the Colts so far this year and he has caught 5 passes for 76 yards (15.2 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Fleener has now played in 14 games in his first two years with the Colts and he has caught 31 passes for 357 yards (11.5 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  Fleener was Andrew Luck’s teammate at Stanford, so they will likely be on the same page quite a bit in 2013.

The Indianapolis Colts lost Donald Thomas for the rest of the 2013 season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports,Needs to Pick It Up by joelapinski on Tuesday 17 September 2013 at 5:56 pm

The Colts have lost 27-year old starting left guard Donald Thomas for the rest of the 2013 season due to a torn quadriceps tendon.  Thomas started both games for the Colts this year.  He has now played in 45 games (23 starts) in his first six years in the NFL.  He was one of the Colts biggest signings in free agency.  22-year old rookie Hugh Thornton will replace Thomas in the starting lineup.  He played in both of the Colts first two games off the bench.  He was a 3rd round pick (#86 overall) in last April’s NFL Draft for the Colts.  The Colts drafted Thornton with the idea that he would start for them some day, they just didn’t think that day would be in Week #3 of the 2013 NFL season.

UPDATE:  The Colts have officially placed Donald Thomas on the Injured Reserve List.

The Indianapolis Colts lose RB Vick Ballard for the rest of the 2013 season

The Colts have lost 23-year old RB Vick Ballard for the rest of the 2013 season.  He has been placed on the Injured Reserve List.  He tore his ACL in yesterday’s practice.  This is a huge blow to the Colts’ running game.  Ballard rushed for 63 yards on 13 carries (4.8 ypc) and he caught 1 pass for -5 yards against the Raiders last weekend.  Ballard has now played in 17 games (12 starts) in his first two years with the Colts and he has carried the ball 224 times for 877 yards (3.9 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He has also caught 18 passes for 147 yards (8.2 avg) with 1 TD grab for the Colts so far in his career.  27-year old Ahmad Bradshaw will take over as the Colts’ starting RB.  He carried the ball 7 times for 26 yards (3.7 ypc) and he caught 1 pass for 7 yards last weekend against the Raiders.  26-year old Donald Brown will be the Colts’ new #2 RB moving forward.

The Indianapolis Colts need Andrew Luck to step back up the last two weeks of the season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Needs to Pick It Up by admin on Thursday 20 December 2012 at 10:39 pm

The Colts need 23-year old QB Andrew Luck to step up the last couple of weeks of the regular season against the Chiefs in K.C. this weekend and at home next weekend in a re-match with the Texans.  The Colts are 2-1 so far in December and they have scored 79 points in those games, but Andrew Luck has not played that well.  He has completed only 53 of 115 passes (46.1%) for 773 yards with 7 TD passes and 5 INTs so far this month.  He has also carried the ball 10 times for 50 yards (5.0 ypc) so far in December.  The Colts need him to be more accurate the last two weeks of the regular season.  Luck has now played in 14 games so far this year and he has completed 308 of 564 passes (54.6%) for 3,978 yards with 20 TD passes and 18 INTs (75.5 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 51 times for 233 yards (4.6 ypc) with 5 TD runs so far this year.

The Indianapolis Colts need Andrew Luck to get back on the right track

23-year old rookie QB Andrew Luck needs to forget all about last weekend’s debacle in New England.  The Colts are still 2-1 in November so far and they have scored 74 points this month.  Luck has completed 75 of 124 (60.5%) passes in November so far, good for 994 yards with 4 TD passes and 4 INTs.  He has also carried the ball 9 times for 20 yards (2.2 ypc) with 2 TD runs so far this month.  Luck has now played in 10 games overall this year for the Colts and he has completed 235 of 412 passes (57%) for 2,965 yards with 12 TD passes and 12 INTs (77.2 QB Rating).  Luck has also carried the ball 35 times for 163 yards (4.7 ypc) with 5 TD runs so far this year.  The Colts are only going to get to the playoffs if Luck can lead them there.

CB Vontae Davis is out for the Indianapolis Colts this weekend

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports,Needs to Pick It Up by admin on Friday 16 November 2012 at 3:13 am

24-year old CB Vontae Davis is out for this weekend’s game against the Patriots due to a knee injury.  Davis has played in 5 games for the Colts so far this year and he has 19 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  25-year old Cassius Vaughn will take over as one of the starting CBs for the Colts this weekend.  He has played in 9 games for the Colts so far this year and he has 27 tackles and 2 passes defensed.  The Colts will be without both of their starting CBs this weekend (Vontae Davis and Jerraud Powers), so the defense could be in big time trouble against Tom Brady and his receivers on the Patriots this Sunday.
