The Indianapolis Colts have released 28-year old QB Josh Freeman.  Freeman played in 1 game (he started it) for the Colts last year and he completed 15 of 28 (53.6%) for 149 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT (65.9 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 8 times for 24 yards (3.0 avg) in his game with the Colts last year.  Freeman was the winning QB for the Colts, which is amazing seeing how he was sitting on his couch until the last week of the 2015 season.  Freeman has now played in 62 games (61 starts) in his first six years in the NFL and he has completed 1,179 of 2,048 passes (57.6%) for 13,873 yards with 81 TD passes and 68 INTs (77.6 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 205 times for 946 yards (4.6 ypc) with 4 TD runs so far in his career.  Freeman is 25-36 (41%) as a starting QB in the NFL.  The Colts won’t miss Freeman, but they did him a favor last year as they gave him the opportunity to prove he could still play in the league.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Leaving Town by joelapinski on Friday 4 March 2016 at 4:44 pm

The Indianapolis Colts have released 34-year old WR Andre Johnson.  Johnson played in 16 games (14 starts) for the Colts last year and he caught 41 passes for 503 yards (12.3 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  Johnson has played in 185 games (183 starts) in his 13 years in the NFL and he has caught 1,053 passes for 14,100 yards (13.4 avg) with 68 TD grabs.  He is #8 in receptions (1,053), #9 in receiving yards (14,100) and he is tied for 41st in TD grabs (68) in NFL history.  He has been to 7 Pro Bowls and he had at least 1,142 receiving yards in each of those seasons.  He has also caught 100 or more passes five times in his career.  The QB play of the Colts could have resulted in Johnson’s sub par numbers last year.  But, it’s more likely that his age is catching up to him.  The Colts cleared $5 million bucks in cap space by making this move.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Leaving Town by joelapinski on Sunday 1 September 2013 at 12:49 am

The Colts have waived 25-year old QB Chandler Harnish, 26-year old TE Dominique Jones and 24-year old G/T Ben Ijalana.  Harnish was the #253 overall pick (7th round) in the 2012 NFL Draft.  He didn’t play in any games as a rookie for the Colts last year.  Jones played in 4 games for the Colts last year and he caught 1 pass for 8 yards.  Ijalana didn’t play in any games last year for the Colts.  He played in 4 games (0 starts) as a rookie for the Colts in 2011.  The Colts should be fine without this trio in 2013.

The Indianapolis Colts waive DT Drake Nevis

The Colts have waived 24-year old DT Drake Nevis.  Nevis played in 9 games for the Colts last year and he had 16 tackles and 1 sack.  Nevis played in 14 games in his two years with the Colts and he had 35 tackles, 1 sack and 1 pass defensed.  Nevis was a big disappointment for the Colts, so they won’t miss him too much moving forward….if at all.

The Indianapolis Colts waive TE Dominique Jones

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Leaving Town by admin on Tuesday 4 December 2012 at 2:31 pm

The Colts have waived 25-year old TE Dominique Jones.  Jones played in 4 games for the Colts this year and he caught 1 pass for 8 yards.  This is not much of a loss for the Colts as they are loaded at TE.  Jones’ roster spot would be better served for another player right now with the Colts pushing for a playoff spot.
