The Colts will be without 23-year old rookie OLB/DE Bjoern Werner for the next four to six weeks due to a torn plantar fascia.  Werner has played in 4 games so far this year for the Colts and he has 5 tackles and 1/2 a sack.  The Colts hope that Werner gets healthy soon, as he has a huge upside.

The Indianapolis Colts won’t have Ahmad Bradshaw this weekend

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports,Needs to Pick It Up by joelapinski on Friday 27 September 2013 at 7:15 pm

The Colts will be without 27-year old RB Ahmad Bradshaw for this weekend’s game against the Jaguars due to a neck injury.  Bradshaw has played in all three games for the Colts so far this year and he has carried the ball 41 times for 186 yards (4.5 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He has also caught 7 passes for 42 yards (6.0 avg) so far this year.  It will be up to 22-year old RB Trent Richardson to carry the load in the running game this weekend for the Colts.  He carried the ball 13 times for 35 yards (2.7 ypc) with 1 TD run in his Colts’ debut last weekend against the 49ers.  This is the reason why the Colts dealt for Richardson, so they need him to step up this Sunday.

The Indianapolis Colts will be without Ricky Jean-Francois for a week or two

The Colts will be without 26-year old DE Ricky Jean-Francois for a week or two due to a groin injury.  He has played in 3 games for the Colts so far this year and he has 5 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.  He has now played in 53 games in his first five years in the NFL and he has 54 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 forced fumble and 3 passes defensed.  The Colts will miss Jean-Francois a little bit in the run defense the next week or two.

The Indianapolis Colts lose Dwayne Allen for the rest of the 2013 season

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports,Needs to Pick It Up by joelapinski on Wednesday 18 September 2013 at 6:12 pm

The Colts have lost 23-year old TE Dwayne Allen for the rest of the 2013 season due to hip surgery.  Allen played in 1 game for the Colts this year and he caught 1 pass for 20 yards and it went for a TD.  Allen has played in 17 games in his first two years with the Colts and he has caught 46 passes for 541 yards (11.8 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  24-year old Coby Fleener will need to step up now that he’s the main man at TE for the Colts in 2013.  Fleener has played in 2 games for the Colts so far this year and he has caught 5 passes for 76 yards (15.2 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Fleener has now played in 14 games in his first two years with the Colts and he has caught 31 passes for 357 yards (11.5 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  Fleener was Andrew Luck’s teammate at Stanford, so they will likely be on the same page quite a bit in 2013.

The Indianapolis Colts lost Donald Thomas for the rest of the 2013 season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports,Needs to Pick It Up by joelapinski on Tuesday 17 September 2013 at 5:56 pm

The Colts have lost 27-year old starting left guard Donald Thomas for the rest of the 2013 season due to a torn quadriceps tendon.  Thomas started both games for the Colts this year.  He has now played in 45 games (23 starts) in his first six years in the NFL.  He was one of the Colts biggest signings in free agency.  22-year old rookie Hugh Thornton will replace Thomas in the starting lineup.  He played in both of the Colts first two games off the bench.  He was a 3rd round pick (#86 overall) in last April’s NFL Draft for the Colts.  The Colts drafted Thornton with the idea that he would start for them some day, they just didn’t think that day would be in Week #3 of the 2013 NFL season.

UPDATE:  The Colts have officially placed Donald Thomas on the Injured Reserve List.

The Indianapolis Colts lose RB Vick Ballard for the rest of the 2013 season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports,Needs to Pick It Up by joelapinski on Saturday 14 September 2013 at 7:13 pm

The Colts have lost 23-year old RB Vick Ballard for the rest of the 2013 season.  He has been placed on the Injured Reserve List.  He tore his ACL in yesterday’s practice.  This is a huge blow to the Colts’ running game.  Ballard rushed for 63 yards on 13 carries (4.8 ypc) and he caught 1 pass for -5 yards against the Raiders last weekend.  Ballard has now played in 17 games (12 starts) in his first two years with the Colts and he has carried the ball 224 times for 877 yards (3.9 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He has also caught 18 passes for 147 yards (8.2 avg) with 1 TD grab for the Colts so far in his career.  27-year old Ahmad Bradshaw will take over as the Colts’ starting RB.  He carried the ball 7 times for 26 yards (3.7 ypc) and he caught 1 pass for 7 yards last weekend against the Raiders.  26-year old Donald Brown will be the Colts’ new #2 RB moving forward.

The Indianapolis Colts lose Justin Hickman for the 2013 season

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports by joelapinski on Monday 12 August 2013 at 6:57 pm

The Indianapolis Colts have lost 28-year old LB Justin Hickman for the rest of the 2013 season due to a serious foot injury.  He was injured in the preseason opener (a 44-20 loss to the Bills) in which he played well as he had 5 tackles.  Hickman played in 12 games for the Colts last year in his first regular season taste of the NFL and he had 12 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss.  The Colts should be o.k. without Hickman, but this will hurt him as he was looking good this summer.

The Indianapolis Colts place Brandon McKinney on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports by joelapinski on Wednesday 31 July 2013 at 11:22 am

The Colts have placed 29-year old NT Brandon McKinney on the Injured Reserve List due to a left knee injury.  This is the same knee in which he tore his ACL in and missed the entire 2012 season.  McKinney has played in 61 games in his first 6 years in the NFL and he has 60 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 2 passes defensed.  This is a bad break for McKinney as head coach Chuck Pagano coached him in Baltimore and that was the reason the Colts signed him.

UPDATE:  (8/8/2013) – The Colts have released Brandon McKinney with an injury settlement.

The Indianapolis Colts lose two RBs for the rest of the season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 12 December 2012 at 2:29 pm

The Colts have lost 25-year old Donald Brown (ankle) and 23-year old fullback Robert Hughes (undisclosed injury) on the Injured Reserve List, ending their 2012 seasons.  Brown played in 10 games for the Colts this year and he carried the ball 108 times for 417 yards (3.9 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also caught 9 passes for 93 yards (10.3 avg) in 2012.  Brown has now played in 50 games in his first four years with the Colts and he has carried the ball 449 times for 1,840 yards (4.1 ypc) with 11 TD grabs.  He has also caught 56 passes for 553 yards (9.9 avg) so far in his career with the Colts.  Robert Hughes played in 5 games as a rookie for the Colts this year and he carried the ball 1 time for 5 yards.  The Colts are really going to miss Brown the rest of the year, as he would give rookie RB Vick Ballard a break whenever he needed one.
