The Indianapolis Colts have placed 33-year old OLB/DE Trent Cole on the Injured Reserve List due to a back injury.  Cole played in 2 games for the Colts this year and he had 3 tackles.  Cole has now played in 16 games in his first two years with the Colts and he has 35 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 3 passes defensed.  The Colts will miss Cole, as their defense was pretty awful with him on the roster.

30-year old CB Darius Butler is week to week for the Indianapolis Colts due to a strained hamstring.  Butler has played in 1 game for the Colts so far this year and he has 1 tackle, 1 interception and 1 pass defensed.  Butler has now played in 58 games in his first five years with the Colts and he has 182 tackles, 5 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries. 10 interceptions (3 returned for TDs) and 36 passes defensed.  The Colts can’t afford to be without Butler.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports by joelapinski on Sunday 4 September 2016 at 1:42 pm

The Indianapolis Colts have placed 25-year old guard Hugh Thornton on the Injured Reserve List, ending his 2016 season due to a foot injury.  Thornton played in 13 games (12 starts) for the Colts last year.  He has now played in 37 games (32 starts) in his first three years with the Colts.  This is going to hurt the offensive line big time as the Colts are already starting the 2016 season without starting left guard Jack Mewhort due to injury.

The Indianapolis Colts have waived/injured D’Joun Smith

The Indianapolis Colts have waived/injured 23-year old CB D’Joun Smith due to a high ankle sprain.  Smith played in 4 games last year for the Colts as a rookie and he had 1 tackle and 1 fumble recovery.  Smith was a 3rd round pick (#65 overall) in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Florida Atlantic.  The Colts are playing poker with the rest of the NFL as they are trying to sneak Smith through waivers so that they can place him on I.R.

UPDATE:  (9/13/2016) – The Colts have released D’Joun Smith with an injury settlement.

The Indianapolis Colts lose starting LG Jack Mewhort

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports,Needs to Pick It Up by joelapinski on Thursday 1 September 2016 at 3:36 am

The Indianapolis Colts will be without 24-year old starting left guard Jack Mewhort for the next 2-4 weeks due to a knee injury.  Mewhort played in 16 games (all starts) for the Colts last year.  He has now played in 30 games (all starts) for the Colts in his first two years in the NFL.  If Mewhort has to miss the start of the 2016 season, look for either 23-year old rookie Joe Haeg or 25-year old Jonotthan Harrison to start at LG until he returns to action.  Haeg was a 5th round pick (#155 overall) out of North Dakota State in the 2016 NFL Draft.  Harrison played in 16 games (9 starts) for the Colts last year.  He has now played in 31 games (19 starts) in his first two years in the NFL.  The Colts can’t afford to be without Jack Mewhort too long, as he is one of the best offensive linemen on the team.

The Indianapolis Colts lose Kendall Langford for a while

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports by joelapinski on Tuesday 9 August 2016 at 8:39 pm

The Indianapolis Colts will be without 30-year old DE Kendall Langford for the next 3-4 weeks due to him getting a knee scope.  Langford played in 16 games in 2015 for the Colts (his first year with the team) and he had 38 tackles, 7 sacks and 3 passed defensed.  The Colts have their fingers crossed that Langford will be ready to go next month when the regular season opens.  With fellow DE Arthur Jones suspended for the first four games, the Colts will likely be on the hunt for DE help.

The Colts will be without 23-year old rookie OLB/DE Bjoern Werner for the next four to six weeks due to a torn plantar fascia.  Werner has played in 4 games so far this year for the Colts and he has 5 tackles and 1/2 a sack.  The Colts hope that Werner gets healthy soon, as he has a huge upside.

The Indianapolis Colts won’t have Ahmad Bradshaw this weekend
