The Indianapolis Colts sign Stephen Morris to their active roster

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Leaving Town by joelapinski on Wednesday 23 November 2016 at 9:39 pm

The Indianapolis Colts have signed 24-year old QB Stephen Morris to their active roster.  He had been on the practice squad.  Morris has never played in a regular season NFL game.  He will likely back up Scott Tolzien at QB tomorrow, with Andrew Luck even less likely to play tomorrow after this move.  To make room on the active roster for Morris, the Colts have waived 25-year old WR Devin Street.  Street played in 2 games (0 starts) for the Colts this year and he caught 1 pass for 20 yards.  Street has now played in 32 games (2 starts) in his first three years in the NFL and he has caught 10 passes for 152 yards (15.2 avg) with 1 TD grab.  This isn’t much of a loss for the Colts, as they are pretty well stocked at WR with talented players.

Andrew Luck is likely going to miss the Indianapolis Colts’ next game

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports,Needs to Pick It Up by joelapinski on Tuesday 22 November 2016 at 5:02 pm

27-year old QB Andrew Luck is likely going to miss the next game for the Indianapolis Colts (against the Steelers on Thanksgiving), as he is in concussion protocol.  Luck has played in 10 games (all starts) for the Colts so far this year and he has completed 236 of 375 passes (62.9%) for 2,827 yards with 19 TD passes and 8 INTs (93.9 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 51 times for 246 yards (4.8 ypc) with 1 TD run so far this year.  If Luck isn’t cleared in time to play Thursday, the Colts are in trouble because they will have to start 29-year old Scott Tolzien at QB.  He hasn’t started a game since 2013 for the Green Bay Packers.  Tolzien has played in 6 games (2 starts) in his first five years in the NFL and he has completed 56 of 91 passes (61.5%) for 721 yards with 1 TD pass and 5 INTs (67.1 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 8 times for 52 yards (6.5 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He is 0-1-1 as a starting QB so far in his NFL career.

The Indianapolis Colts could be without Dwayne Allen for a little while

The Indianapolis Colts could be without 26-year old Dwayne Allen for a little while due to a sprained ankle.  Allen has played in 6 games (all starts) for the Colts so far this year and he has caught 18 passes for 192 yards (10.7 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  He has caught 18 of the 27 passes (66.7%) thrown in his direction so far this year.  He has now played in 49 games (48 starts) in his first five years in the NFL (all with the Colts) and he has caught 109 passes for 1,237 yards (11.3 avg) with 15 TD grabs.  26-year old Jack Doyle will likely replace Allen.  He has played in 6 games (5 starts) for the Colts so far this year and he has caught 20 passes for 204 yards (10.2 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  Doyle has caught 20 of 23 passes (87%) thrown in his direction so far this year.  Doyle has now played in 53 games (12 starts) in his first four years with the Colts and he has caught 55 passes for 413 yards (7.5 avg) with 6 TD grabs.  24-year old Erik Swoope will also be asked to step up for the Colts while Allen is out of action.  Swoope has played in 6 games (1 start) for the Colts so far this year and he has caught 2 passes for 42 yards (21.0 avg).  He has also played in 7 games (1 start) in which he has caught 2 passes for 42 yards (21.0 avg).  The Colts hope that Allen won’t be out too long.

The Indianapolis Colts lose Darius Butler for a while

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports by joelapinski on Tuesday 11 October 2016 at 2:40 pm

The Indianapolis Colts will be without 30-year old CB Darius Butler for a while as he needs surgery to repair a broken finger.  Butler has played in 2 games for the Colts so far this year and he has 7 tackles, 1 interception, 1 pass defensed and 1 forced fumble.  He has now played in 57 games in his first five years with the Colts and he has 188 tackles, 10 interceptions (199 return yards, 3 TD returns), 36 passes defensed, 3 tackles for a loss, 6 forced fumbles and 3 fumble recoveries.  This is a bad break for the Colts, as Butler is one of the few playmakers that they have on defense.

The Indianapolis Colts release Antonio Cromartie

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Leaving Town by joelapinski on Wednesday 5 October 2016 at 12:03 pm

The Indianapolis Colts have released CB Antonio Cromartie.  Cromartie played in all 4 games for the Colts this year and he had 14 tackles and 2 passes defensed.  Cromartie has now played in 162 games in his first 11 years in the NFL and he has 416 tackles, 31 interceptions (3 returned for TDs), 116 passes defensed, 6 tackles for a loss, 2 forced fumbles and 5 fumble recoveries.

The Indianapolis Colts waive Sio Moore

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Leaving Town by joelapinski on Wednesday 5 October 2016 at 11:59 am

The Indianapolis Colts have waived 26-year old linebacker Sio Moore.  Moore played in 4 games for the Colts this year and he had a team leading 30 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss.  Moore has now played in 42 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 183 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 16 tackles for a loss, 2 forced fumbles and 1 pass defensed.  I’m a little surprised at this move, as Moore was leading the team in tackles this year.

The Indianapolis Colts get back Arthur Jones

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter by joelapinski on Wednesday 5 October 2016 at 11:56 am

The Indianapolis Colts have gotten 30-year old DT/DE Arthur Jones back from his 4-game suspension.  Jones missed last year due to injury.  He played in 9 games for the Colts in 2014 and he had 23 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 forced fumble.  Jones has now played in 55 games in his first six years in the NFL and he has 143 tackles, 10 sacks, 7 tackles for a loss and 2 forced fumbles.  The Colts need as much help as they get on defense, so getting Jones back in the fold should help.

The Indianapolis Colts place Trent Cole on I.R.

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports by joelapinski on Wednesday 28 September 2016 at 4:04 am

The Indianapolis Colts have placed 33-year old OLB/DE Trent Cole on the Injured Reserve List due to a back injury.  Cole played in 2 games for the Colts this year and he had 3 tackles.  Cole has now played in 16 games in his first two years with the Colts and he has 35 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 3 passes defensed.  The Colts will miss Cole, as their defense was pretty awful with him on the roster.

The Indianapolis Colts sign Devin Street

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Colts Chatter by joelapinski on Thursday 22 September 2016 at 6:17 pm

The Indianapolis Colts have signed 25-year old WR Devin Street off of the Patriots’ practice squad.  Street played in 14 games (2 starts) for the Cowboys last year and he caught 7 passes for 114 yards (16.3 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Street has now played in 30 games (2 starts) in his first two years in the NFL and he has caught 9 passes for 132 yards (14.7 avg) with 1 TD grab.  This was a good pickup for the Colts, as they need all the help that they can get at WR with Donte Moncrief out of action for the next 4-6 weeks.

The Indianapolis Colts release Winston Guy

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Leaving Town by joelapinski on Thursday 22 September 2016 at 6:46 am

The Indianapolis Colts have released 26-year old safety Winston Guy.  Guy played in 2 games for the Colts this year and he had 4 tackles.  Guy played in 14 games in his two years with the Colts and he had 10 tackles.  Guy has now played in 32 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 53 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 2 passes defensed.  This isn’t much of a loss moving forward for the Colts.
