The Indianapolis Colts pick center Ryan Kelly in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,The Draft Report by joelapinski on Friday 29 April 2016 at 5:30 pm

The Indianapolis Colts picked center Ryan Kelly with the #18 overall pick (1st round) of the 2016 NFL Draft.  Kelly is 6’4″, 298 pounds and he runs a 5.27 40.  Kelly made all the line calls for Alabama last year and he should start right away for the Colts.  He is a good run blocker, as he can hit a moving target at the second level.  He is also a pretty solid pass blocker.  Kelly played in 15 games (all starts) for Alabama last year.  He played in 46 games (35 starts) in his four years with the Crimson Tide.  The Colts probably preferred to draft an offensive tackle, but they were flying off the board early in the draft.  That being said, Kelly was a solid pick for them, as they need to do whatever they can to protect Andrew Luck better.

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Leaving Town by joelapinski on Monday 7 March 2016 at 8:19 pm

The Indianapolis Colts have released 28-year old QB Josh Freeman.  Freeman played in 1 game (he started it) for the Colts last year and he completed 15 of 28 (53.6%) for 149 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT (65.9 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 8 times for 24 yards (3.0 avg) in his game with the Colts last year.  Freeman was the winning QB for the Colts, which is amazing seeing how he was sitting on his couch until the last week of the 2015 season.  Freeman has now played in 62 games (61 starts) in his first six years in the NFL and he has completed 1,179 of 2,048 passes (57.6%) for 13,873 yards with 81 TD passes and 68 INTs (77.6 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 205 times for 946 yards (4.6 ypc) with 4 TD runs so far in his career.  Freeman is 25-36 (41%) as a starting QB in the NFL.  The Colts won’t miss Freeman, but they did him a favor last year as they gave him the opportunity to prove he could still play in the league.
