The Indianapolis Colts are back on the right track after thrashing the 49ers 27-7 in San Francisco. They travel to Jacksonville to play easily the worst team in the NFL…..the Jaguars. The Jaguars are resorting to offering people two free beers (or soft drinks if they are under 21 years old) to come to this game. The Jaguars are only averaging 9.3 points per game so far this year. Here is a look at the matchups in this game:
When the Colts have the ball: The Colts will likely come out running the ball with Ahmad Bradshaw, Trent Richardson and Andrew Luck against a Jaguars’ D that is allowing 167.7 yards rushing per game and 5.2 yards per carry. The Jaguars don’t have much of a pass rush and they have a very young secondary, so look for Luck to take a lot of shots down the field after the Colts establish the running game. WRs Reggie Wayne, T.Y. Hilton, Darrius Heyward-Bey and TE Coby Fleener are all likely going to have good games this Sunday. I look for the Colts’ offense to move at will this weekend against an overmatched Jags’ D.
When the Jaguars have the ball: The Colts will likely gang up on RB Maurice Jones-Drew and force the Jaguars to beat them by getting someone else the football. Blaine Gabbert is back at QB for the Jaguars and he makes mistakes with the ball when he gets hit early in the game. Look for LBs Jerrell Freeman and Robert Mathis to be chasing Gabbert around this Sunday quite a bit. WR Cecil Shorts is by far the best receiver on the Jaguars, so look for the Colts to double team him and dare Gabbert to throw the ball to someone else. Gabbert is going to make some mistakes with the ball this Sunday and the Colts need to make him pay for them (I think they will).
PREDICTION: COLTS 34, JAGUARS 10
