The Indianapolis Colts have re-signed kicker Adam Vinatieri

The Colts have re-signed 38-year old kicker Adam Vinatieri to a 3-year deal.  Vinatieri played in all 16 games for the Colts last year and he connected on 26 of 28 field goals (92.2%) and he was 51 of 51 on extra points last year to finish up with 129 points.  Vinatieri has played in 67 games in his first five years with the Colts and he has made 101 of 119 (84.9%) field goals and 198 of 201 extra points good for 501 points.  Vinatieri has been a pretty dependable kicker in his career, so it was smart of the Colts to bring him back.

The Indianapolis Colts re-sign safety Melvin Bullitt

The Colts have re-signed 26-year old safety Melvin Bullitt to a multi-year deal.  Bullitt played in 4 games for the Colts last year and he had 13 tackles, 1 interception and he defensed 1 pass.  He has now played in 48 games in his first four years with the Colts and he has 182 tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 12 passes defensed, 6 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles.  The Colts made re-signing Bullitt a big priority when free agency opened up and it paid off.

Edgerrin James is gone but not forgotten for the Indianapolis Colts

Edgerrin James is without a doubt the best RB in Colts’ history.  James played in 96 games in his 7 years with the Colts and he carried the ball 2,188 times for 9,226 yards (4.2 ypc) with 64 TD runs.  He also caught 356 passes for 2,839 yards (8.0 avg) with 11 TD grabs for the Colts.  James burst onto the scene with the Colts by leading the NFL in rushing in each of his first two years in the NFL (1999 and 2000).  In 1999+2000, James played in 32 games (all starts) in which he carried the ball 756 times for 3,262 yards (4.3 ypc) with 26 TD runs.  He also caught 125 passes for 1,180 yards (9.4 avg) with 9 TD grabs in his first two years in the NFL.  James made it to 3 Pro Bowls in his 7 years with the Colts.  James also rushed at least 1,259 times five times, scored at least 11 TD runs in a year four times and he also caught at least 50 passes in a year five times with the Colts.  James is the Colts’ all-time leading rusher (9,226) and he also leads the franchise in TD runs with 64.  James is also #7 in receptions (356), #21 in receiving yards (2,839) and he’s tied for 27th in TD receptions (11) in Colts’ history.
