The Indianapolis Colts claim DT DeMario Pressley off waivers from Houston

The Colts have claimed 25-year old DT DeMario Pressley off waivers from the Texans.  Pressley didn’t get into any games for the Texans last season.  He played in 7 games for the Saints in 2009 in which he had 15 tackles.  The Colts need all of the help that they can get on defense so I like this move for them.

UPDATE:  (8/17/2011) – The Colts have lost DeMario Pressley on waivers to the Denver Broncos.

The Indianapolis Colts release Bob Sanders

The Indianapolis Colts have released 29-year old safety Bob Sanders.  Sanders was the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year back in 2007 for the Colts.  Sanders played in only 2 games for the Colts last season in which he had 3 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception.  He has played six seasons for the Colts in which he appeared in 47 games and he had 291 tackles, 15 passes defensed, 3.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and six interceptions.  Sanders has always been a great player when he has been healthy enough to play which hasn’t been too often.  Sanders only played in more than six games twice in his six years for the Colts, so it doesn’t surprise me to see them let him go.
