The Colts thought they were in good shape with 53 seconds left in this game as Adam Vinatieri had just nailed a field goal to put the Colts up 16-14.  But then the special teams, defense and head coach all failed them.  CB Antonio Cromartie returned the kickoff 47 yards to set up the Jets with outstanding field position.  The Jets then threw a couple of nice, short passes to get them within the edge of Jets’ kicker Nick Folk’s range.  Then, for some reason, Colts’ head coach Jim Caldwell called a timeout with 29 seconds left.  This gave the Jets more than enough time to come up with a good play.  They pretty much ran a jump ball pass down the right sideline for Braylon Edwards on which he made an outstanding grab.  Nick Folk then trotted out on the field and nailed a 32-yard field goal on the last play of the game to end the Colts’ season with a loud thud!

Peyton Manning was not at his best in this game.  He completed 18 of 26 passes for 225 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  Joseph Addai (13 carries, 60 yards) and Dominic Rhodes (14 carries, 33 yards) handled the heavy lifting in the running game for the Colts last night.  Pierre Garcon led the way in the passing game for the Colts last night with 5 grabs for 112 yards (22.4 avg) with a TD grab.  WR Blair White (6 rec, 54 yards) and TE Jacob Tamme (5 rec, 46 yards) also pitched in for the Colts in the passing game.  WR Reggie Wayne was shut down in this game by the Jets as he only caught 1 pass for 1 yard!  The Colts finished up with 93 yards rushing on 27 carries (3.4 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 26 passes for 219 yards.

The defense played well in the first half last night but the Jets wore them down in the second half.  CB Jacob Lacey (9 tackles) and rookie LB Kavell Conner (8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) led the way for the Colts’ D last night.  CB Justin Tryon pitched in with a interception in this game.  The Jets finished up with 169 yards rushing on 38 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 31 passes for 184 yards.  It’s back to the drawing board for the Colts after this very tough to swallow loss last night.

Wow…what a stinker. I am a devout JETS hater (Colts fan since 1958) and I hated to see them beaten by a lesser team – especially the JETS….The Manning era window is CLOSING…FAST!!
