Joseph Addai is looking sharp this pre-season for the Indianapolis Colts

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,The Pre Season by admin on Friday 27 August 2010 at 1:25 pm

Joseph Addai is really looking good for the Colts this pre-season and they are hoping that it’s sign of things to come.  Addai has carried the ball 14 times for 84 yards (6.0 ypc) and he has also caught 5 passes for 75 yards (15.0 avg) this pre-season.  2nd year RB Donald Brown was supposed to mount a challenge to Addai’s playing time in 2010 but it just doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.  Addai is a great weapon for the Colts’ offense when he’s focused and motivated and that’s the look he’s sporting right now.

Green Bay Packers 59, Indianapolis Colts 24

The Colts’ D and special teams were so poor last night that the Colts’ O couldn’t overcome it.  Rookie linebacker Pat Angerer led the way for the Colts’ D last night with 10 tackles and 1 QB hit.  Safety Antoine Bethea pitched in with 9 tackles last night.  The Packers rolled up 93 yards rushing (2.7 ypc) and 337 yards passing last night as they had possession of the ball for 37:08!  Packers’ PR Jason Chery returned a punt 75 yards for a TD in the fourth quarter last night for the final punch in the mouth to the Colts.

Peyton Manning looked so-so for him, completing 15 of 26 passes for 214 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT.  Curtis Painter finished up the game by completing 6 of 11 passes for 97 yards with 1 INT.  Joseph Addai led the way for the Colts’ offense in this game with 60 yards rushing (8.6 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 40 yards (20.0 avg).  Donald Brown could only muster 6 yards rushing on 5 carries (1.2 ypc) but he did score a TD.  WRs Reggie Wayne (7 rec, 96 yards, TD) and Pierre Garcon (2 rec, 42 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Colts last night.  The Colts finished up with 81 yards rushing (4.0 ypc) and 308 yards passing in this game.

Buffalo Bills 34, Indianapolis Colts 21

The Colts started out this game o.k. before fading again when the backups came in.  Peyton Manning completed 8 of 15 passes for 91 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT (which was returned 78 yards for a TD by Bills’ CB Terrence McGee).  Curtis Painter was light years better than he was in the pre-season opener on Thursday Night as he completed 5 of 6 passes for 97 yards with 1 TD pass.  Tom Brandstater made a very, very brief appearance as he threw one incomplete pass.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 13 yards but he lost a fumble.  Undrafted rookie Tim Hiller finished up this game for the Colts at QB and he completed only 1 of 5 passes for 7 yards and he lost a fumble.  Javarris James led the way for the Colts on the ground in this game with 29 yards rushing on 8 carries (3.6 ypc).  Devin Moore carried the ball 6 times for 26 yards (4.3 ypc) on Thursday Night.  But, Moore made his biggest impact on special teams in this game as he returned 4 kickoffs for 129 yards (32.3 avg) and he returned 2 punts for 51 yards (25.5 avg).  Donald Brown (4 car, 23 yards) and Joseph Addai (2 car, 13 yards, TD and 2 rec, 23 yards) also pitched in for the Colts running the ball.  WR Taj Smith made a huge impact in this game for the Colts as he caught 3 passes for 91 yards (30.3 avg) with a TD grab.  TE Jacob Tamme only caught 1 pass and it went for a 21-yard TD.  The Colts finished up with 112 yards rushing on 24 carries (4.7 ypc) and they also passed for 185 yards in this game.

The defense was on the field for a long time in this game (35:34) and that’s because they didn’t play too well.  CB Terrail Lambert (9 tackles, 2 passes defensed) and linebacker Pat Angerer (6 tackles) led the way for the Colts’ D on Thursday Night.  The Bills finished up with 144 yards rushing (4.2 ypc) and 223 passing yards against the Colts.

The Indianapolis Colts sign Terrell Skinner

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Colts Chatter by admin on Friday 20 August 2010 at 7:51 pm

The Colts have signed rookie safety Terrell Skinner out of Maryland.  He was in camp with the Vikings who cut him loose.  Skinner had 3 tackles in his debut last night in the Colts pre-season game with the Bills.  It was a good first impression for a player whose going to have a hard time trying to make the Colts’ roster.

San Francisco 49ers 37, Indianapolis Colts 17

If the Colts learned anything in this game it’s that they better pray that nothing happens to Peyton Manning because they don’t have much behind him.  Manning looked sharp as usual completing 8 of 10 passes for 91 yards.  Curtis Painter was downright pathetic yesterday for the Colts.  He completed 9 of 19 passes for 64 yards with 3 INTs.  One of his INTs was returned 91 yards for a TD by Niners’ S Reggie Smith.  Tom Brandstater finished up the game at QB for the Colts by completing 8 of 12 passes for 34 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  Devin Moore led the way on the ground for the Colts in this game by carrying the ball 4 times for 26 yards (6.5 ypc).  Javarris James also had a solid game with 4 carries for 17 yards (4.3 ypc).  Joseph Addai carried the ball 5 times for only 11 yards (2.2 ypc) with a TD run and he also caught 1 pass for 12 yards in this game.  WR Blair White (4 rec, 38 yards) and TE Jacob Tamme (3 rec, 26 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Colts yesterday.  The Colts finished up with 58 yards rushing (2.4 ypc) and 177 yards passing in this game.

Rookie LBs Pat Angerer (8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2 sacks and 2 QB hits) and Kavell Conner (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) led the way for the Colts in this game.  The Niners finished up with 132 yards rushing (4.6 ypc) and 203 yards passing in this game.

The Indianapolis Colts hope a youngster steps up and takes over kickoff return duties

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Positional Previews by admin on Thursday 12 August 2010 at 11:50 am

25-year old WR Sam Giguere likely is atop the depth chart as the kickoff returner heading into training camp but he has no lock by any means.  He played in 1 game for the Colts last season and he returned 5 kickoffs for 122 yards (24.4 avg).  Rookie 7th round pick, cornerback Ray Fisher will likely get a shot to unseat Giguere as the kick returner.  Don’t count out undrafted rookie Brandon James out of Florida as he is pretty darn fast.

The Indianapolis Colts lose Jeff Saturday for a while

Blogged under Big Colts News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 11 August 2010 at 7:38 pm

The Colts will be without starting center Jeff Saturday for the next 2-6 weeks due to knee surgery.  Jamey Richard will likely fill in at center until Saturday is ready to return to action.  Richard has played in 25 games (7 starts) in his two years with the Colts.  The Colts hope that Saturday returns soon because using Richard at center would be a huge dropoff.

The Indianapolis Colts will have some changes on the O-Line in 2010

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Positional Previews by admin on Tuesday 10 August 2010 at 3:13 pm

The Colts only allowed 13 sacks in 2009 which was a NFL low and a new club record.  The reason for the possible changes on the front line has to do with run blocking….which was not too good last year.  Charlie Johnson isn’t a natural left tackle but he’s the best the Colts have and he did a decent job in 2009.  Left guard will be a training camp competition between Tony Ugoh, Mike Pollak and rookie 4th round pick Jacques McClendon out of Tennessee.  The center will be Jeff Saturday who has been to 4 Pro Bowls in his career.  He is the leader of the O-Line.  RG appears to belong to Kyle DeVan who has a motor that never stops until the whistle blows.  RT Ryan Diem was a Pro Bowl alternate last season.

Jim Caldwell only can do one thing to improve on his rookie season for the Indianapolis Colts

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Positional Previews by admin on Tuesday 3 August 2010 at 5:58 pm

45-year old head coach Jim Caldwell had quite a rookie season for the Colts.  He led the team to a 14-2 (87.5%) record during the regular season and the two losses they didn’t even try to win as they were resting players.  The Colts then went 2-1 in the post-season losing the Super Bowl to the Saints.  The only way Caldwell can improve on his rookie season is to win the Super Bowl in 2010 and he has the players to do it.

The Indianapolis Colts need Adam Vinatieri to stay healthy in 2010

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Colts Chatter,Positional Previews by admin on Tuesday 3 August 2010 at 5:55 pm

37-year old kicker Adam Vinatieri is still one of the best kickers in the NFL.  He played in only 6 games for the Colts last season and he made 7 of 9 field goals (77.8%).  He also made 17 of 18 extra points to finish with 38 points for the Colts last year.  Vinatieri has now played in 211 games in his NFL career and he has made 338 of 412 field goals (82%).  He has also made 514 of 521 career extra points as he has scored 1,528 points in his career.
