The Colts re-sign four of their own free agents

The Colts signed three reserves on defense and a starter on offense as they try to keep a lot of the World Champs together. Offensive guard Ryan Lilja was the most important player of this bunch that the Colts re-signed. He played in 13 games last season (5 starts). Lilja started all 16 games in 2005 for the Colts. He will battle for a starting job and if he doesn’t get it, he will be a very valuable reserve for the Colts.

DT Dan Klecko has been re-signed by the Colts. He played in 10 games and only made 4 tackles. But, he also plays fullback in the Colts goal-line sets and he caught a pass for a 2 yard TD last season. Klecko is a valuable guy to have on a team.

Linebacker Gilbert Gardner has been brought back for another season. He played in 15 games last season and he made 53 tackles and defensed 4 passes. He’s a valuable reserve who could see extended playing time now that Cato June has left the Colts in free agency.Â

Reserve DE Bo Schobel has also re-upped with the Colts. He played in 14 games last season and made 19 tackles and had 1/2 a sack. This was a good depth signing for the Colts.

The Colts sign QB John Navarre

The Colts have signed John Navarre to challenge Jim Sorgi for the back up job in 2007. Navarre didn’t play in a game in 2006 for the Arizona Cardinals. Navarre has played in 2 games (1 start) in his NFL career and he’s completed 32 of 64 passes (50%) for 342 yards with 2 TD passes and 5 interceptions (43.9 QB Rating). This should be a spirited battle in Training Camp but look for Sorgi to prevail.

The Colts re-sign linebacker Rob Morris

This is a solid move for the Colts to bring back Morris. He played well in the playoffs for them after regaining his starting job. He played in 15 games last season for the Colts and he made 55 tackles. Look for him to be a starter again this season.

The Colts release DT Montae Reagor

Reagor was the victim last season of a viscious car crash that caused him to miss a lot of last season. He only played in 5 games last season and he made 10 tackles, had 1 sack, defensed 1 pass, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble. The Colts probably could use him but it didn’t make financial sense to keep him.

The Colts release WR Brandon Stokley

The Colts have released WR Brandon Stokley. He missed most of last season due to injury. He only played in 4 games (1 start) and he caught 8 passes for 85 yards (10.6 avg) with 1 TD catch. Stokley was an outstanding #3 WR for the Colts when he was healthy, but, that hasn’t been in a long time.
